75 gallon reef build

Update

Update

Hey guys, short little update here. Finally got a Ca and Mg test kit! Woohoo! Apparently these test kits are really picky on how you preform them, but luckily they have directions on their website bout how to use them. I'll be watching their videos to make sure I'm doing it right, then getting to the testing. I'll update my levels once I'm done!

anyways.....

Mg- I'm not sure, it went over the scale, I guess I did it wrong.

Saving my money for a hanna checker. I'm bothered right now.

Nice build. Looking forward to continue to watch it's progress. Build up the CUC it need a lot more inverts added to it!

Bummer. Was that the Ca test? Did they only provide one vial? I guess a replacement vial would only be useful if you can get the broken piece out of the holder. Maybe they will send you a courtesy replacement.

Looks like you overtightened the vial !! Might have to buy a new test kit to get a new vial. Word to the wise. Put some clear tape over the needle numbers. Those suckers get erased after a while. Build looks good, and I hope you get everything in order.

i am sure if you call they will replace it they have good service. also for testing as soon as it looks like it is about to change that is your mark, it took me awhile to get it right but once you do it is spot on. The changing color goes for all of the test. First change and your done

Hello everyone, sorry it's been a while. Been working a lot lately.

Anyways, the last time I was on I broke my Alk vial while trying to screw it on. Not a big deal anymore, I have another alk test from before, I just needed the Ca and Mg test kits. So thank god it came with three vials.

Going to be doing a water change and adding a lot more inverts to the tank this weekend. Everyone seems to be doing fine, so I'm assuming the tank did cycle/already had the beneficial bacteria from the LR.

Right now I'm looking at BRS ro/di systems, going to order one tonight!!!!! All this work I've been doing has allowed my wallet to grow, so I'm pretty excited to get this and set up my ATO with it!

I've got a busy weekend so we'll see how much I can devote to the site. Going to the GA aquarium sunday with the girlfriend, so along with pictures of my new inverts I'll bring the camera along and see if I can get some interesting photos for y'all as well :D

Helle everyone, sorry its been a while again. Nothing new with the tank. Have a lot of algae, all animals are doing okay, and water parameters are fine. I think it's safe so say I can add a serious CUC. That's my goal this weekend

I'm also ordering that rodi system tonight as I haven't done that yet.

The GA aquarium was awesome! I haven't been since I was young so it was really exciting.

Here is a few photos and a teaser video for y'all. The rest of the photos can be found here: http://photobucket.com/GAaquaPics

Love those pictures - particularly the ones with the whales overhead. Thanks for making them available! :)

Maybe the RO/DI will help you with the nutrients. You probably already mentioned, but what are you doing for water now?

Finally caught up a little! I assumed his LFS is supplying the topoff and WC water, but that is a very valid question: what are you doing?

Looking good though. Makes me want to leave work now and get the place ready for the build... :P

great pictures... dont you wish you had a tank that size? a bigger CUC should help your algae and the rodi will also help. Ever get the phosphate test to see what it is at?

The tunnel, where the whale sharks swim above you, is my favorite!!! I would have liked to see more coral in the reef part, but overall it was amazing!

My LFS supplies my water, but getting this will pay for itself in no time! I have no clue how to set it up, so I'll need some assistance!

Also, what brand of salt do you recommend?

Yes, you are correct. But i got my 5 stage plus 75gpd rodi from BRS coming monday! Woohoo!

The same question goes for you, what brand of salt to you recommend?

That's what I was thinking the whole time I was there!

Yes, I plan on getting a big CUC this sunday. The few that I have were a trial run and have done okay so now it's time for some more serious stuff
