I am making a decision today on which rr tank to order. I am curious as to if I should go with a 75 gallon or 90 gallon, which is the same dimensions just like 4 inches taller. Does anybody have any input?? Thanks in advance!

If you have the money, I would go with the 90. It gives you more water volume to work with. That gives you a more stable environment.

Thank you guys, the extra space is what I liked too, didn't think about it making a more stable environment, but that makes sense.

Anybody else have any input? Also my sump is for a 75 gallon, but my buddy told me since the surface area is the same it should be fine.

I had to make the same decision about 6 months ago and I can tell you Im really glad I went with the 90. Im now wishing I would have gone with 120 instead of the 90 for more room front to back.

The only problem with the 90g is that you are going to need more powerful lights to adequately light the sandbed if you intend to put corals there. If you're already planning to have MHs, then go for the 90g.

FWIW - I went with the 75g for the lighting reason.

I'd go ahead and get the 90. Of course, as someone already suggested, a 120 is the same height as the 90, but it is six inches deeper!

Ya I wish i would have realized I could do that before I built the stand and canopy for an 18.5 deep tank...lol! Oh well the room I am putting it in is pretty small, so I think I'm getting big enough. So this lighting should be adequate for a 90 though??

Go with the 90. I have had a 90 with the 6 T5 confuguration. I am very happy with the tank and the lights.

I am upgrading this tank to a 120, not because of dissatisfaction, but I wanted the front to back depth. I als finished my basement and built the tank into the wall. I just received my last piece of plumbing today so I will start the process and hopefully be up by the holidays.

Here is my 90 with DIY 6 bulb T5 fixture. 3 10k and 3 460nm actinic bulbs. My brain on the sand bed seems to like the new lights. and as you can see they are placed well above the tank.

i will also be looking for a new RR tank and am trying to decide between 75 & 90. Where did you guys get your T5 fixtures? How much did you pay. I was going to go with the 75 because i didnt want to spend so much on lights for the 90, but if 6 T5's will work, then it sounds like the way to go.
