750 acrylic reef project..need a little help

29reef

It's all about the flow
So i am in the process of putting together a parts list on a 750 acrylic reef that will be 3 side viewable. the sump and equipment will be remote, aprox. 15' down and 40' across away from the tank. the biggest problem im running into is finding pumps for this setup. there cant be any equimpent under the tank. ive looked at amp masters and sequence but i dont think they are up for the job i dont want to use powerheads of any sort except i may have to use a few vortec pumps if i can use them with the 1'' acrylic. Any ideas? Cost is not an issue just geting the right pump is more important. Also i am able to purchase things wholesale so that isnt a problem if the company sells only to retailers.

Thanks :)

I would take a second look at teh AmpMasters. I used these in my previous house to run my tanks so I could do water changes more easily. The plumbing to do water changes went 12' high and nearly 30' long and then 10' down to the water system / sink. I had one on each of my two tanks and one on my water system. I had no issues pushing water that high or far. I have teh AmpMaster 3000. They also have other larger models that may work.

I used a Sequence 5200 that went 12' down and about 20' over but that was just a return pump as I had Streams in the tank. It sounds like you need one really large pump or several smaller ones to provide enough return and adequate circulation. I would look at Aquaticeco.com as they have dozens of really large pumps that will work, I'm just not sure if they can be used in SW.

I just looked at aquaticeco really quick and I found pumps as high as 6hp that pump 24,000 gph at 40' so thay should have something that will work for you.
