melev will have a shirt w/ a running counter of how many posts he has. will he go through withdrawls not being able to post for a couple days ?????

Well I ordered 4 packages of Boston Aquatic plugs. I used up all my plugs from Ross and didn't want to ask for more.

I took a idea from Ross who took a idea from another guy ROFL!!!!

This is a 4 part solution for me. 1 is the idea in which it was intended and 2 when I move to my 120 I will have no problem taking out corals. 3 when I want to do some fragging. 4 If I ever got Red bugs or AEFW "knock on wood"

Here it is http://reefvideos.com/reefshowcase_04_content.html

look under mounting pegging on the right side of the page.

wow its late now. spent forever reading 39 pages lol. Seems like everything has come along great. Is there any word on those icecap vortechs or i forget their name lol. Also someone posted about those led lights. would those work on bigger tanks where depth is deeper?

O and what happened to no fish or maybe 1-2 way later? how about fish shots? or maybe I missed something. not to hard in 39 pages at 3:12 in the morning......

I have a laptop with a wireless modem. I think I'll be okay. :D

Ok guys after having a major outbreak of hair Algae in my Frag tank I decided to give the Rowa a try. I will be starting at a very small amount like before.

There is only one person to blame for this Hair and other nasty Algae in my frag tank!!! The person who I'm holding the corals for. ROFL .

Anyway I dumped the carbon, cleaned the reactor and took 2 full capfuls. The cap is used for my Aquamend that I used a ton of yesterday. I hade no Tablespoon.

I also finish breaking the rest of my corals off there base. I know guys "Why did you even bother doing this Erik" Well, I still have small corals and now is the time.

Hello Badpacket,

PHOSaR was engineered, designed and manufactured to be an improved media compared to earlier generation GFO products including Granular media.

The PHOSaR pellet has a more uniform and sharper pore structure compared to the Granular form. This material was developed to address the weaknesses of the Granular form.

And as to surface area affecting adsorption, this is not granular Activated Carbon. The adsorption characteristics for PHOSaR are completely different compared to the large DOC molecules adsorped by GAC.

Pelletized PHOSaR and Granular media have the SAME capacity (to remove Phosphate, Arsenic and Silicates) per weight, but the pelletized PHOSaR allows a drop in pressure across the media bed which means MORE WATER flows THROUGH PHOSaR, not AROUND it. And if used in a Fluidized Media Reactor, PHOSaR is still superior to Granular Media as the pelletized media is more prone to tumble and spin and will allow more water flow through the reactor itself. In addition, the pelletized media is more robust, resistant to grinding itself to powder at higher water flow rates in a Fluidized Media Reactor.

PHOSaR is more FLEXIBLE, in that it can be used in more applications. PHOSaR pulls down Phosphates FASTER than Granular Media in the real world because more water will flow THROUGH it and not around it. PHOSaR is easier to rinse (if you so wish, RO/DI only please) and less dusty. And of course, PHOSaR doesn't stain water like the GFH product from Europe.

And I certainly hope that RANDY tests PHOSaR in his upcoming article. PHOSaR is the next evolutionary step in GFO products and to omit it would be ignoring the elephant in the room, so to speak.

If you or anyone else would like the raw material engineering data that conclusively proves PHOSaR's superiority, please email me at jon@warnermarine.com

Best Wishes,

Jon Warner

arconom - hmm...nice find. never heard of the stuff. i just ordered some rowaphos AND some phosban. i use a mix of the 2 to save some $$

There is a thread that I was looking at that the maker talks about it.

I would like to find out how the media is effected if at all in a low PH area of a tank.

Well I guess since it's summer most of us don't update alot.

I added more Rowaphos last night. I have about 3-4 big teaspoons in it now. The media is slightly jumping/boiling. We'll see how it goes. I want to take it slow.

My Vacumm Finally died:( This time I'm going to buy a bigger one. It still looks brand new. I emptied it everytime after I used but I guess it finally sucked its last suck:(

I have been experimenting with the epoxy Aquascape. It mixes to a deep purple. I plan on using it to attach the 1/4 OD acrylic tube to the plugs with it.

Once I have all of the holes drilled into my rock I plan on taking all of my corals out and redoing all of the rock.

My new light canopy is Still not done. I'm waiting for a guy at work to help me wire it.

I'm tired of using so many powerheads to provide flow to other equipment. For example my Skimmer,Phosban reactor,Calcium reactor and soon a Fluidised carbon reactor.

Where can I install a manifold to plumb off water? Is it ok to take it right from the excess pipe?

I like the second one because the outlets are larger, but the first one would be sufficient for Phosban Reactors & a Calcium Reactor.

I would connect it in line with the return going to the tank, as it would be the least likely to have detritus moving through it.

That would mean alot more plumbing or running more plastic hose to the equipment.

Do you see any other way I can do it? I thought the the excess water was the same as the one going to the return but it is only throttled.

I guess I could use the rightside one to feed my Skimmer. I don't see the drain having enough flow to feed my skimmer. What do you think Marc?

Don't use the drain side. You need something with flow behind it, like from the return pump or a single pump to feed all other pieces of equipment.

I thought since it was off the return it was usable. What makes it not usable? Doesn't the water still have pressure?

All I'm basically doing is diverting unused water flow. I guess I'm confused.

Because it's not capped off?

The confusion lies in what specifically a "return" is. The return should be the flow pushed by the return pump to the tank.

Some people refer to the drains in their tank as the returns, although that is not what they are. They are the drain lines, and the water is then returned to the tank with the return pump.

If you have a pump that has enough flow to supply the tank as well as feed that manifold, go for it.
