Not sure about the pressure. Hard to tell without being there and knowing what kind of pressure is being transferred to the glass.

Do what disbjohn said. BTW, he means putting the Tee on the side of the bulkhead that is outside the tank. Kind of like an external durso. I've seen it done before but have never tried it myself.

thanks for clarifying that.

I'm going to work on it now. I might wait untill I get the DUBVs in the mail and replumb that area that has pressure.

Now, Take note I'm still deciding on if I should just drill the cap and glue it in place or Extend the T and add a 90 and then cap.
Remember everything after the T is not glued. ALSO I know I have to drill the Plug/Cap:)

Well things are moving along. My Bro-inlaw and I went to Lowes and bought a 1" union which my bro-inlaw found. It worked perfect for the section that was causing stress on the tank itself. We just used one side of the union and the other side matched up with the old DUBV.

Tommorow I will fill the tank back up with water and check for leaks.

One major concern I have Atm is my lighting system. I am afraid of putting this heavy Hood on top of my tank. It was fine before I drilled all the holes but now I am worried.

If I buy Loc-line do I have to buy the Pliers? I want to but to 1/2" Loc-lines for my return on my mag 9.5 right now theres just a empty hole. Any other suggestions besides Loc-line?

Also are 6" segments enough? I was going to get 2x 6" 1/2" segments?

Well I just ordered the Loc-line. I bought the Y and the went with the 1/2" I really think the flow from my mag 9.5 is to much for my drain, I'm hoping that the 1/2 will add more head to the pump.

I'm still undecided. I'm not sure if I made the right decision. I even placed the order with the 1/2 instead of the 3/4

Not sure about putting the heavy light hood on the tank. With the weight of the water in the tank, I would tend to think the weight of the light hood wouldn't make much difference, but don't take my uneducated guess as fact on this one.;)

You should either keep the 90 on the durso or extend the pipe a little further. You want the end to be completely above the water level in the tank or else water will come out the end.

IME, you don't need the pliers with the loc-line. Just need a lot of muscle. It is really easy to stick pieces of it together and not too hard to get pieces apart by bending them really hard. But I have run into a few connections that required some boiling water to soften things up first. 6" length will be more than enough.

Your 9.5 shouldn't be too much for your drain. My mom runs a 9.5 wide open on a 75 RR with a 1" drain and it could easily handle more. It has an internal durso and is silent.

Hey Bro... I can't believe I missed this thread for so long... I thought I subscribed back in the beginning but I haven't been getting updates... oh well... I mean itââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s not like I could have accidentally un-subscribed myself... LOL but you wouldn't know anything about accidentally un-subscribing yourself from threads, right Trav... :D LOL

Anyway all kidding aside itââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s looking very good...

I don't know if the added weight would do anything but I doubt it... regardless I think being in the basement with easy access to the floor joists above makes this a no brainer...
I got to get a haircut and oil change tonight in Newburgh... you want to meet up at lowes and go hunting for some hardware to hang your hood? give my cell a call...

Jay

Ps your corals could never wear out their welcome... Oh and I'm ordering some really sweet Reefermadness Frags that have your name on the first frags after they grow out some! :eek2:

I'd say that is a pretty darn good idea.:) Heck, shouldn't cost more than $20 for hardware and shouldn't take more than 10 minutes with a helper.

Hey Arco,
Fellow Hudson Valley Reef Keeper here. Just read the entire thread. Can't believe, like Jay, that I haven't caught on to this sooner. Chester here.

Anyway, being into construction big time, you would do yourself a big favor suspending that 'light' load from the joists above, like Jay said. I'd absolutely consider a pulley system with a winch on it.

We have a Tractor Supply Warehouse in Chester that I'm sure will have all the supplies you need for a project like that.

Your setup looks great. I hope to be at Jay's meeting this month. Maybe we'll meet there. Caught wind of this thread from your post over on HVRK.

Good luck and I'm always available to help out.

Which tractor supply store in Chester? By Chester Valley? Or by the Beer Distributer?

Also I would take you up on your offer for help if you had time:)

No, over in the Shoprite plaza. Near Monroe Muffler ( I think ).

It's all done. I had to turn back the Return and I but that 90 back on.

I was running my CL and all of a sudden my Dart is now making grinding noises. I will make a post in the sequance forum.

Other then that everthing is on schedule. I am going to fill with RODI tommorow.

Well good news!! It's time. I have filled 2 Rubbermaid drums with SW. This will be used for my last cleaning of my Liverock.

I decided to relevel the tank. It was off a little but still in the black. Now it's much better and more in the middle of the 2 black lines on the level.

I will put the Starboard in now and let the water fill the tank while I sleep maybe not sure.

Not a good picture but these are composite shims from Lowes. They won't get damaged from water or warp or compress. I love them. I will get a better picture later

Hey man, those two yellow levels are not perfect. That could be a problem. You need to break it all down and restart. j/k lol, looks great. Can't wait to see it with water.

Russ

Well I have been filling the tank with fresh RO/DI since last night. I only stopped making water for 3 hours.

This week I will be tying up the loose ends. I want to design a rack to raise the rock off the the SB.

I doubt there will be any major problems with destritus since I won't be having any fish. Or if I do it may be one or 2.

I am getting my Calcium reactor ready to go online:) I am soaking the pump in vinager to clean it.
