75g build.

Stand is looking good Mike. You may have been able to jusy buy one but it wouldnt have been built as well and it always feela good to accomplish something yourself.

That's a clean build with the inside being finished. I think the bottom being open is a good idea. It cuts down on heat buildup in sump & makes everything able for easy access. Looks really good Mike. Also, white is a good color in sump. It's clean & bright.

Thanks for the pictures Snake, I definitely think I am going to paint the inside with some white kilz latex.

Rob, thanks for your comment. I do like the way white looks under the stand, it does make it look nice and clean aslong as it can stay clean.

Anthony, Thanks buddy. I almost ended buying a stand but they're not tall enough and nowhere near enough room underneath.

Mark, glad you liked it. I can't wait until it's done or atleast moving in a more forward direction. The holidays are just killing me.

Hey Mike - sorry - just saw this. I did the same - stained the outside espresso and painted the interior with white oil based outdoor paint

Thanks for the picture Ted. I definitely think it looks painting the inside of the stand white. I will say that, getting wood to a nice glossy sheen (without seeing the wood grain) is quite the pain in the arse. I'm on my 3-4th coat of paint and it is almost to where I want it. After this I am going to clear coat and wet sand it with 2,000 grit. This is how the stand looks after the last coat I applied, the time change is killing me.

Also traded my 40B sump for a 36x15x16 acrylic sump. I lost about 7-8 gallons but I'm much happier with this acrylic sump.

Oh real quick, what do you all paint the inside of the stands with? I was going to use white aerosol but then I figured that probably won't offer any protection against spills. I was thinking about using a white latex paint like kilz.

Prime, then killz, then at least 1 coat of latex should do the trick. Or just buy some marine paint.

Well in true Florida fashion it looks like it's going to rain, so I decided to bring the stand inside. Which turned out to be a good thing because I was able to slide the tank on the stand and see how level the top was. Turns out, it's pretty damn level and even. Also got the new back piece on, it originally had two pieces of ugly plywood that I'm sure would have blended in with the rest of the inside once it was painted but, the new wood was only $22 so whatever. Im going to paint the inside tonight. kilz primer, then caulk then high gloss white latex :-)

Thanks man, I actually just started the first coat of kilz of the inside, had to leave for a bit so I still need to finish. After the primer it's getting caulked at the seams then a couple coats of gloss white latex.

Sooooooooooo, apparently Kilz shouldn't be used indoors with the windows and doors shut. Well, atleast the stand looks good.

I drug the stand back outside lastnight around 11pm because I didn't want to kill my g/f, my cat and myself. Looked at the weather and saw it was suppose to rain. Drove to Walmart to buy a huge tarp to cover the stand. Wake up and not a single drop fell the whole day. Ohwell, I'll finish painting the stand tomorrow. Drag it back inside, manhandle the tank on the stand. I also now get to redo the plumbing since I got a different sump and am going to be running an external pump.

Pulled the stand back in so I can place the new tank on it, if I am able to get it to my place tonight.

Still need to paint the top. P.S, the cat is definitely plotting some sort of idea.

I need to add a few more coats of paint to the outside of the stand but overall pretty happy with it. And the new acrylic sump is pretty nice.
