So, I'm going to claim myself as a newbie. I've had a tank for a long time, but just starting up again. I just replaced my homemade sump and old skimmer with Trigger Systems Emerald 26 and AquaMaxx FC-120. Very happy with the results. Currently stocked with a a yellow tang, a clownfish, a big cardinal fish, a black and white damsel (who survived the bad days when I wasn't taking proper care of the tank), a six-line wrasse, a orange spotted blenny, an emerald crab, and three shrimp (a fire shrimp, a peppermint shrimp, and a scarlet skunk cleaner Shrimp), plus a bunch of snails and a few hermit crabs. Everything is going well, with two exceptions: I have some red algae on the sand bed and fuzzy brown stuff all over the live rock (pics attached). I think the brown stuff is diatoms, but I'm not sure. Would more emerald crabs take care of it? And what about the red algae? Thanks in advance for your help.

I'll see if I can get better pics. Water parameters are all good: pH = 8.2, ammonia = 0.0, nitrite = 0.0, nitrate = 0.0, SG = 1.026.

Hopefully this pic is a bit better. I purchased two emerald crabs and a bunch of cerrith snails that should be delivered on Fri. I'm sure they will help, but any other advice would be appreciated.

I also think there is a sticky on here somewhere about taking pics - I'll see if I can find it.
