785 Gallon Glass Reef Build in CT

785 Gallon Glass Reef Build in CT

So is this a tank or endless pool? If tank, where is the build thread?? Please do post pics!! :0)

An endless pool. Though my coworkers joke I should put some fish or sharks in it. The chlorine content will be less than tap water (but not zero).

Anyway, my big tank build is in the planning stages along with the basement fish room. Nothing nearly as large or as finished looking as OP's tank.

Looking great!

Was going to say that you didn't make the top trim low enough... then I noticed the magnet in the corner and realize it's still filling :D

Awesome build! A lot of work! I really like the picture frame look from inside! Very clean looking! Can't wait to see this one progress... Maybe you could shoot a you tube video and show us a little more detail... That's what I plan on for my system at least when it is a little more finished up....great work!!!

785 Gallon Glass Reef Build in CT

Filtration will consist of:

100 Gallon Sump

150 Gallon Rubbermaid Stock Tang as a refugium

Ecotech MP 10 x 2

GFO reactor

Ecotech Vectra L1 pump

3 x Magdrive 12

Maxspect Gyre

1/3 HP chiller

2 x 500 watt titanium heater

Calcium reactor

ETSS downdraft skimmer

MTC 4' skimmer to be converted into a sulfur denitrator

Lighting:

AI Sol Blue x 4

AI sol White x 2

14k 400 watt MH

Efficient tank running 3 mag drives? They are one of the least efficient pumps in the hobby.
1/3hp chiller for 1000 gallons?? Sounds like that's a bit underrated. No?

What will 2 mp10s do on a 700g tank?

Looks like most of that equipment belongs on a 100g tank, not a 700g tank. I'm a bit confused.

That tank is massive, I can't imagine how nervous I would be moving that thing around. I almost had a heart attack lifting my 8' glass tank onto the stand. In wall tanks are very cool to look at, but I would have to agree with everyone else, I bet it will be a chore to keep it looking clean.

I am making use of equipment I already have. I finished the filtration for now. I used a mag 12 on each skimmer, a mag 9 return and the vectra L1 as the main return. the chiller is very small but it will still cool the tank a few degrees if needed. MP10'S won't work because the glass is 3/4. the maxspect gyre combined with vectra on reef crest is plenty of flow though

The L1 and gyre were both on my equipment list. Then reality set in. Those cost some big bucks. And when your approaching the end of your build and many thousands over your estimated budget, you use what you already have. Can't wait to see how you like those 2 items.

Wow. You sure did that fast. How did you get all that done in less than 2 weeks?
Looks good though. Is there anything you wish you would have done differently?
