800 gal reef Question

hi, im planning to build an 800 gal reef. My problem is i have space for the ffilter room in the basement 20 feet away. Has anyone ever had an overflow made that stretched that far. Do the pipes need to be cleaned?

I don't think 20 feet would be a problem. I run a basement sump and I would say my overflow run is a good 15 feet. I've never cleaned it.

Been done lots of time with success. Just takes a bit more planning.

Definantly not a problem to do.... I was suppose to help out installiing a tank a few months ago where the sump was 60-80ft away from the 10,000 gallon display tank. Unfortunantly I couldn't get away from my normal job so I had to pass.

You just need more plumbing (no, it does not need to be cleaned if plummed properly) & a bigger pump to compensate for the headloss.
