I'm going to play with the settings on my camera some to get rid of the blue. Those were just real quick pics I took the other day.

What if you laid it horizontally across the two bits in front of it's current location, smallest end towards the front of the tank? Or you could just break it in half and have two pieces that are easier to position.

It was like that originally and I didn't like it. I want it to be more of a vertical pillar, so I'll probably use some two part epoxy or reef cement to glue it upright, but off the back wall. I also have to move a couple on the left as they are touching too at the top but have a good spacing in the middle and bottom away from the back wall.

It'll be just like the 90g I had before this....I'll end up changing the rockwork a bunch of times before I find what I like! LOL

I finally finished getting the auto water change set up today using the Litermeter III. I'm starting off with 1.5 gallons a day and will see how things go. If needed I'll go up to 2-3 gallons a day.

I also found my Green Bubble Tip Anemone today that went missing! He seems agitated after the move to the 300 from the 90g and kept moving around. He finally a week ago disappeared and figured he was buried in the rocks somewhere. Low and behold he was in my sump! The hard part to figure out is how the heck it fit through the weirs in my overflow, as that is the ONLY way into the overflow! Then he traveled through the 1.5" pvc drain...through a gate valve, and into the sump! I have him attached to a small rock now in some tupperware in the sump to keep him relaxed and hopefully heal up. He is inflating but looks beat up some. Hopefully he'll recover! I plan on moving him back to the DT tomorrow to see how he does.

Apparently my emergency drains work perfect as I KNOW he caused one heck of a restriction in the Herbie drain during his trip from the DT to the sump!

I also had a buddy come by today who is a painter. He is going to start mid next week on painting the stand and canopy in an antiqued paint finish. Pics will follow when he's finished.

Well.....I think I can FINALLY say the build is DONE!

The system is completely set up....auto water change is going (starting at 1.5 gallons a day for now) and the painter finished the stand and canopy today!

Here are some pics! Enjoy, because I know I am!!

All I have to do is add some macro algae to the fuge in a few weeks. I went with the Reefbreeders fuge light, but don't want to start it yet as the tank is still young and I'm not sure the fuge will be beneficial yet (thoughts??).

All I need (want) to do is move some of the rockwork around a little bit. I have some touching the back wall and want to move it so I can keep the back wall clean on this tank. My last tank I let the back glass get covered in coraline algae. I think I like the clean blue look better on this, so I'll be moving rocks in the near future to allow me to keep the entire back glass clean.



The painter did an antiqued finish on the stand and canopy. I LOVE how it came out!

Now just waiting for the new tank syndrome to clear up so the cyano on the sandbed disappears....

I love the size of that tank. The 8ft really provides a lot of swim space. Very clean looking setup overall. Nice job!
