Can't wait 'til these start takin' off!!

Thx, guys! Actually not long at all. They were curious what I was doing so they stayed still for just enough time. This is just my 2nd shot of the braver one - so I got lucky. I'm pleased with how used to us they are already though. They rarely get spooked now.

Wow! Great pics! Sorry I hadn't seen these like this before the meeting, would have commended you in person. Excellent shots! One question though...

What's your Firefish so pi$$ed off about?

Firefish always disgruntled. H8ers gotta h8.

Had some flatworms left on the top rock of my tower so I decided to rearrange a bit. Along with that... more macros and a couple of FTS.

Great macro shots once again. What are you shooting with? Just so I can be jealous...

Thx! I shoot with a Nikon D90 and the macro lens I currently have is a Nikkor 70-180mm. The FTS were taken with a 35mm prime lens though.

Too cool. I've got to move beyond point-n-shoots. Your results show that pretty clearly. Great pics. :)

It's a big jump for sure, but you can get some really amazing shots with the most modern point-and-shoots (hell, I've even seen some incredible pics with an iPhone). It all depends upon the situation and the gear. If you ever decide to travel down the long and winding path of DSLRs I recommend sites like http://www.kenrockwell.com/. There are several similar folks but I started with Ken's site... could be why I ended up shooting Nikons. I'm still on the fence about whether or not it's the right choice but it depends upon what subjects you'll be concentrating on most often. For me it's all about the kids and nature. Nikon fits nicely on that front, though every time I'm at a Giants game I drool on all the Canon rigs on the sidelines.

If you end up delving into an upgrade, let me know if you want any war stories on the shopping/research front.

Hullo - Thanks for asking!

I'm just about to post some updated shots. I have several SPS that are doing well. Others have gone RTN, but the vast majority were small $10 frags that didn't seem to show growth from the start. I have an RBTA that ran a little wild and I think that's the main culprit, but who knows. I'm open to arguments either way. I think I have some photos from that time period to provide examples of what went down. I'll get into specifics there also (e.g. stags seemed to fare the worst).

Speaking of that RBTA - when I catch it I want it out of the tank!! Let me know if there's interest out there. Free to good home (or throw me a cool frag if you're feeling generous)!

My acans have also had a period of going south but I gave them each a dip and that seemed to turn things around. I don't know if this is bacterial, nutrition or what.

Zoos, lobos, frogs/hammers and florida rics seem to be really happy. Yuma rics are generally displeased. I lost a small maxima but I think it may have either been stung by the nem or was sick to begin with. I have another maxima and a hippopus that are in awesome shape.

I have been doing water changes more regularly - 10% about every 3 weeks. I'm planning on further increasing this to 5% every other week. I'd like to see if I can kick start some additional growth. I removed one of the lights on the scrubber and growth has slowed a bit (N/P still at or close to zero). Calcium uptake has lowered considerably and I believe this is due to saturation of coralline algae. I also stopped dosing aminos and that doesn't seem to have had any affect either way.

Got a few updated shots - I should line up before/afters. They're on the flickr account... just need to album them up :P

Those look like some happy fungia! Assuming they are fungia...

What kind of flow are those Duncan's getting? I've got some that used to look just like that, until I moved them. I like yours better frankly.

Finally, what's the story on your acans? Better now?

Oops! More...

Acans in the pics look good. What's the flow on that hammer too?

Thanks. Looking good. :)

Duncan enjoys a bit of cross flow from the left (MP40). It's dead center and seems really happy in that spot.

Those are certainly several fungia. The one on the left seems to be doing the best though tonight I moved them around and yanked some of the hardened substrate beneath them (for some reason it's all coagulated directly beneath their footprint - I'm guessing it's a side effect from their growth, but I've read they appreciate a more forgiving underside so we'll see how they do).

The acans are actually bummed out. I just dipped them and gave them an aggressive blasting with the baster. They must have been annoyed by cyano b/c there was a bunch of it floating around post-baste.

Flow on the right side of the tank is fairly light. My green acan looks great as does the hammer/frogs, ric's and pagoda.

All in things are doing well. I just need to figure out the right balance for my Kalk stirrer now. I thought it would supplant my dosing for a time but it seems it's not nearly enough. I'll still have to do both. I wonder if the consistent additive from the stirrer has boosted uptake again. Either way, things seem totally erratic. My biggest concern is the maxima clam I bought a few months back. It's not quite opening fully the past week or so.
