90 AGA tank setup questions

Just got my overflow accessory kit that I have been anxiously waiting for...and I have a couple of questions (search is not working right now)

Did you use any sealant at all on the kit? It looks like no is the answer per the instructions, but it makes me a little nervous to be honest..

Did you use the universal or hose barb bulkhead? What is the difference?

Yes, I did use silicone on the bulkheads.

I used the bulkheads that came with the kit. Regular bulkheads wont ft.

I use regular schedule 40 bulkheads. They do not need to be siliconed in, but you can do that if you wish. Sched 80 bulkheads will not fit, but sched 40 will. The cheap bulkheads that come with the kit are sched 40.

When installing, make sure the gasket is on the flanged side, and that the flanged side is on the inside of the tank.

Make sure you hand tighten the bulkheads and then maybe a slight 1/16th turn with the wrench. the key here is not to pinch that gasket and cause it to spread out.

I siliconed mine as well. It's just cheap insurance in the long run. I have a local reef store and they set up a lot of tanks and there installer told me once that they never used to silicone those in but had one too many leaks and so started to silicone. Since then zero problems.
