90 gallon fish selection

Hey guys. I'm gonna start cycling my 90 gallon mixed reef tank tank here in a few weeks. I have an idea of what fish I'm gonna put in, buy I wanted everyone's opinion first.

Occ. clown pair I currently have

Atlantic tang / pacific blue tang

Yellow tang / kole eye tang

Starry Blenny / lawn mower Blenny

A Few fire fish

Pink spot goby / diamond goby

I know a few people with lion fish and snowflake eels and green wolf eels in their full mixed reef tanks similar size as mine that never bothered anything.... what are your opinions on these? Of all 3 listed, I was hoping a snowflake eel would work...

This is pretty much what I have so far... May add other fish or take away as I get closer to purchasing them. Thanks all!

The atlantic tang needs a bigger tank in my opinion to thrive but otherwise looks good.
I know a guy who has a lion fish in his reef tank but its a fuzzy lionfish from hawai (the smallest species of lionfish available) and so far no prolems.

have everything on your list except the tangs in a 75g now.

agreed the tang will not be a good idea.
mixing a kole and a lawnmower blenny will be a disaster.. at least it was for me.
firefish would keep either pair or a bunch..but not 3.
diamond goby very cool fish will keep sand sparkling. make sure it eats at store.
good luck..

Agreed, except for the firefish statement. A single specimen or a breeding pair. Groups don't work and true pairs are tough to find so a single is highly recommended.

The only tang listed that will work in a tank of this size is the kole. The others get too large and are too active.

most times when i have only one firefish it doesnt stay out as much.
when i add another they stay out most of day and hover together.. that's my experience over the past 19 years anyway.

FWIW, on the firefish, I purchased a "bonded pair" of Helfrichi's for the first fish into my 120, and after just about 6 months, they rather catastrophically un-"bonded".

I've heard similar stories from others, so I'd do multiple firefish at your own risk. The single remaining firefish is still quite outgoing, and spends most of the day swimming near "his" rock hole, despite flasher wrasses and a C. binotatus tang racing around.
