been a while since i've posted here, thought i'd post an update. tank has been doing ok despite a few minor setbacks. I switched over to the Apex which has been awesome. way better then reef keeper Lite. i also added two new pumps for more water flow since the two mp10's i have just don't put out that much flow needed for the size. i wanted more flow so i got two 530gph pumps. havn't really gotten any new coral recently but I have noticed some growth on what I have. one problem i had is that when i hooked up the Apex, i had a wxm module as well, and it was not working properly so i hooked it up and somehow all my outlets got deleted. i called tech support and got me back up and running but problem was i forgot to check the outlets so about 250 ml of alkalinity got dumped into the tank over a 2 hour period. came in my room and the tank was white. i got that problem taken care of by doing water changes for about 6 hours, about 20 gallons out and 20 gallons in. surprisingly everything seemed ok and all parameters got back to where they were supposed to be. i noticed a growth in coraline algae as well, then i started seeing more cyno algae. i knew my phosphates were up again, so i went to the LFS to buy more phosphate media, came home to change it and had to take a shrimp skewer to stab and loosen my carbon and phosphate stuff. i guess all that alkalinity had clumped it together so barly any water was making it through. unfortunately that was like that i think for about 2 n 1/2 weeks. so got that changed, and today the water is crystal clear and phosphates are down to 0.00. now i just have to let the algae run its course and it will die off. anyway, here are some pictures
Heres the Australian War Coral when I first bought it....
and here it is today... the tissue has grown back and some new heads have popped up underneath and you can see the tissue growing onto the epoxy.
Gallexia coral when I first bought it...
today...
hammer coral when I first bought it...
hammer coral today...it bleached a little bit when i had the alkalinity problem but the growth speaks for itself....
couldnt get pictures of it, was very difficult but this one's sprouted about 5 more heads around the outer base. anybody know the name of this?
montipora...the color has really come in and its bulking up a little bit, and has curved upwards a bit since i got it.
