90 Gallon Stocking List

Alien, I know flashers and fairies dont need sand, but they also are not the great pest eaters that other wrasses are. I understand when you say ever fish does its own thing in it's own area. I guess I will need to brake down the list by area occupied and take it from there. You def have me thinking about the sunburst, but will read up a little more. Hopefully I have water in my tank by next friday, my rock is cycling/ going through lanthanum chloride treatments now.

You could keep a small tupperware of sand behind your rock work and get a melanurus wrasse. I love mine and he has cleaned up a ton of pest for me!

I have heard of the sand container method but am not sure if I could pull it off until I get my rock work done. How are melanarus' with small shrimp?

Lanthanum chloride pulls out phosphates. Like GFO but it is a liquid. If you search rc for it you will find a few good threads including my build (in the ny reef club forum in the northeast section).

Small like how small? I think cleaners are generally fine. Sexys, maybe not. I've heard it help to have the shrimp in the tank before the wrasse so it doesn't see them as introduced food. Yellow coris are same genus but a bit smaller and more peaceful.

Looking at a pair of harlequins, not sure how they would do in an SPS tank but have read they paralyze the starfish then eat it alive.

I don't know if those would be wrasse food or not. Certainly, keeping your wrasses well fed will help.

I have heard, though I'm not sure it's true, that they will actually flip a star on it's back and then feed it while they eat it over a period of days or weeks!

If you are looking for a big centerpiece fish try a mimic tang.....I plan on having a lemon peal mimic when I get mine up and running, they look exactly like dwarf angles when they are juveniles but their color change completely when they are adults....I was told either a mimic or kohl in a 90.....and the mimics don't nip at corals! That's a +!
