The switch over is done. It took way too much time and cause way too much stress, but it's done.

Casualties...

1 flame angel :(
1 torch coral (4 large heads) :(
1 purple-tipped hammer (5-6 heads) :(

Found them all dead in the stock tank when I started setting up the new tank.

Yellow tang looks stressed--I'm sure the tank will have a large cycle. Who knows how long they had been dead in the stock tank. The fish and corals had been in there since Tues. night.

Not sure what happened--none of my lps are looking good, softies all look fine.

We shall see. Pics later.

My green slimer frag is doing bad since my changeover. This is the 2nd frag I got from Gabe that is going south...

OK--time for pics. Unfortunately, I lost 90% of my hard corals (a few sps--monti caps, monti digi, a ponape birdsnest (I think--gotta check to make sure he is gone)--and all lps except my brain (which looks terrible) and some blastos. The softies all are fine.

Here we go...

The rockwork is not how I want it, but you see where I'm going with the pillars (I used mailbox reflector posts through drilled rock to create the pillars)

and the sump:

Obviously I still have to do some organizing of cords, etc.

The sump is a BK sump (I think one of his first)--Very nice--my first real sump. It beats a bucket inside a storage container.

The tank, stand, and canopy came from Justin (Reggae Fish).

Thanks. Things are looking better.

The water is super clear, the brain looks like it may make it, all fish and remaining corals are looking good. I added some AmQuel + to "detoxify" the ammonia and nitrites, and a water change yesterday.

WHAT DID YOU DO WRONG?

I wish I knew. I think possibly the fish died the first day (perhaps a mishap with a rock??), and then the water quality turned to crap. My biggest mistake was thinking I could get it done on 2 weeknights. Drilling the rock took longer than I thought. I had hoped that I would get everything out but the fish on night one, and get the fish out and everything else back on on night 2. Instead, I got 2/3 of the rock out on night one, the rest of the rock and sand out on night 2, along with getting the old tank out and new tank in. On night 3, got the plumbing set up, the new sand in, and all the base rock in, but it was too sludgy to see where I was putting the other rock (and getting late), so I gave up for the night. On night 4, I came home and put the other stuff in, at that time discovering the dead fish and some of the dead corals. The fish and corals should have been OK in the stock tank for 2 nights (had temp the same as other tank and plenty of flow). But, if the fish died Tues. night and the rest of the stuff was in there with it until Thurs. night, that pretty much explains everything.
