90 vs 120

Also a 110 is the same size as a 90, just taller.

The biggest you can afford the better! I have a 90 and I regret not getting a 120 instead. Also the longer the tank and the more gallons you have allow for a bigger variety of fish, like tangs!

I have a 90 going on 2 years now. I wish I would have started with a 120. I would like a longer tank but that isnt going to work well in my house. I would like to get the 120 but the cost seems alfull high just to get the 6 more inches.

I wouldnt definately go with the 120 Gallon. 4x2x2. You will enjoy that extra depth for your life rock! Plus you dont need any extra cost in lighting. And your skimmer should only be slightly more. Plus there is an abundance of used Reef ready 120 floating around for good prices!

I had a 90 all ready to be set up, even built the stand for a 120 upgrade in the future, but figured I could run closed loop plumbing behind the tank and hide it. Well, I have since scrapped the closed loop plans and am glad I measured correctly when I built my stand. I have a 120 on there now and am very glad I did it.

I also figured how much of a pain it would be to set up the 90, and tear it down and disrupt everything to upgrade.

In short, if you have the room for the depth, go for the 120....IMO.

I have a 90 and wish I had gone for a 120. The extra width is worth it.

i also agree with the above post. i had a 75 and i really just wanted the extra depth, not hight so i got the 120. i could care less if the tanks a little taller. the extra depth allows for more creative aquascaping.

I would say it's a lighting issue. I had the choice of a 75 gal. or 90 gal. thats the longest tank I could fit into that area. I decided on the 75 gal. because I wasn't sure that my 390 watts of PC lighting would be good enough for the extra depth.

I am puting together a 120 short 4x2x2 .. and the only thing I i wish I had done different is get the 150 at 5x2x2,,, but for the price difference,,,, I would rather be in the 120... great tank!

Bigger is better. If someone ever drops a martini in your tank, you'll be glad you went bigger.

Get a 120. The L' x 2' x 2' tanks are really nice. 120, 156. 180, 240. You also have more room underneath for a wider sump.

I'd go with the 120 as well. I currently have a 55, and I'm currently trying to find a nice used 120 for cheap, since they really don't take up that much more room, and give you more options for fish. I feel that my 55 is too small for my 5" purple tang, plus I love the depth of a 120. But now after reading Sniggir's reply on this thread, saying that there is such thing as a 150 gallon tank that is 5x2x2, I'm going to be looking for one of those, because I have 5 feet of room for the tank, but not 6... Anyways, yeah... get the 120... If you get the 90, you'll probably just regret it in the end.

I upgraded form a 75 to a 120 and the extra 6" width is priceless!
I really like the 4 x 2 x 2 foot print, what ever you do, go as big as you can!

I have a 90 now and every day i wished i would have gotten the 120. If you have the room go big.

I upgraded from a 72 bowfront to a 120 and I really liked the 120. The 72 bowfront is 4 feet long but the additional width of the 120 was great. So much easier to arrange liverock.
