Hi Roger,

I got the 9002 Nano skimmer and the holes on the mounting kit does not line up correctly. I can't really mount the skimmer. Also, is the skimmer cup suppose to be loose when put in the skimmer? It wabbles.

Thanks,

Kris

I have a 9002 and found it very confusing to setup. The pictures and directions don't help much. :-(

What do you mean by the holes don't line up? Are you using included hardware or one of the Tunze magnets?
When I was connecting the long black mounting bar to the skimmer box, I found while some of the holes are close to working, only one hole on the top attachment point and one hole on the bottom attachment point could be used.

The skimmer cup is supposed to be loose. It will wobble, but should sit flat on the skimmer box.

Hi Jeff,

Yes, their directions is the worst but I was able to figure it out. I am using the hardware that was included. Its the 2 small rectangle pieces with the 2 holes on it that don't line up correctly when trying to use the 2 long screws through the hole that connects the 2 pieces together.

Are there magents for will work for this skimmer? If so, which ones?

Thanks,

Kris

Are you talking about items 1 and 2 on the following link page 14?

If so, just try to make sure you have the correct side of each piece facing each other. Also, the piece that goes on the long mounting bar should have the "closed" hole that doesn't go all the way through at the top and facing the other piece, IIRC. Then when setting up, the bottom screw sets the thickness to match the tanks bracing, and the top screw is what you actually use to tighten them up when attaching to the aquarium (screw it out to tighten the hold).

There might be other ways to use the pieces, but the above way is what worked for me. :)

The standard Tunze magnet can be used to attach the skimmer when it has the optional nano cleaner filter next to it. You can see a picture of them buddied up on page 44 of the above link. Otherwise, I have heard of people using the nanosteam magnets somehow, but I don't know how they pulled it off and have no experience with it. Sorry.

I found that once I got the attachment pieces setup and adjust right, they are easy to use for attaching and removing the skimmer for any cleaning I have to do!

Yes, its items 1 and 2 on page 14. When I correct them together, its bends like a curve I force the screws to line up to the connecting holes.

krischau,

Screw number 1 is to set the space so should be set for the glass thickness and screw number 2 works to lock the clamp to the glass.

Graeme
