9002 skimmer problem

I have had a tunze 9002 nano skimmer for about 3 months now.

Just today I have noticed it making a rather bad noise. It sounds like a fan I had before that had a bad bearing, kindof a sqeaking/viberating noise.

What might cause this? What should I do to try to fix it?

I bought the skimmer new, it should not allready need cleaning, right?

The first thing I would do is disassemble the skimmer and pump and clean it. If that doesn't resolve the problem Roger will surely repair or replace if it is only three months old.

It is possible that it could need cleaning in a few months, not usual, but possible if a lot of sediment was present or very high calcium or KH levels. It could also be that a snail got in the pump. I have seen it happen wehere snail larvae grow up inside the skimmer.
