9005 and Tank with Glass Lid

I would like to install a 9005 in-tank. However, my tank has a glass lid that only allows 1.75-2" gap between the lid and the rim of the tank. I assume that is nowhere near enough room for the collection cup of the 9005. Is that correct? How much room is needed?

That is correct, you will need about 5" square. A glass shop could cut out this area.
