9010 and fresh air connection

Hi

I have a 9010 skimmer sited in the sump of a 600L system

I find it difficult to main a water pH above 8. Searching through the reef chemistry forum I see that it is suggested to have outside air fed to the skimmer to help lower Co2 saturation of the water.

Can anybody suggest a way to do this with the skimmer.

Any help gratefully received..

Many thanks..

To simplify..

I can feed an air line from outside but I need to know where to connect it to the skimmer for best results. The air adjustment screw is just that, the air feed to the pump seems to be taken from the inside of the skimmer where the cup sits.

Any ideas??

I'm sure Roger will chime in, but on the 9010 there is an outlet for ozone injection. My first thought is connecting your fresh air to that.

Exactly, inject the air using a 50mg/hr air pump into the ozone input port. This port has no suction, the suction is actually under the cup so you have to pump the air in there and then the venturi will take it in.

Just checked , there are 2 inlet ports, 1 larger to the right of the screw, 1 smaller to the left of the screw, does it matter which I use,

Thanks again.

Roger..

Is there any reason not to use the larger inlet.?

I've just run 10 feet of tubing inder the floor to the outside of the house, this tubing fits the larger inlet perfectly, I'll have to search out an adaptor for the smaller connection.

.. Thanks once more

I suppose you could but it gets more tricky to be sure you are pumping in the right amount of air. That inlet is supposed to just be a passive air inlet so it can take in air as needed.
