9010 on 300 Gallon FOWLR

I recently purchased a 9010 for my 300 gallon fowlr. I'm aware that this skimmer is a bit undersized for my sized tank. A few of the main reasons for purchasing this skimmer was I have a rather small sized sump and the foot print of the 9010 was ideal. Also, the price was about the most I could have spent.

I did have one problem as the pump died on me a week after set up but was quickly replaced. Thanks for the fast mailing Roger.

I'm having a micro-bubble problem as the skimmer sits 6" from return pump. Also, after this skimmer is broken in, how many ml of skimate would be good or ideal? Right now I'm getting between 100-150 ml of tea colored wet skim.

How long does it take to collect 100-150ml? In general if you get about 100-150 ml every 1-2 days that is ideal. To reduce the microbubbles, move the return pump and skimmer as far apart as possible, try raising the water level so the bubbles have more time to rise out before the pump takes them in. Also try setting up some sort of baffle, even just an acrylic plate laid at an angle over the pump could be a big help.
