9010 Problem

I just bought a new 9010 skimmer and am using it as an in-tank skimmer. I am having two problems with it.

1.) Micro Bubbles - The skimmer has been in there a week, and it is still spitting quite a few micro bubbles out of the bottom of it. I have tried closing the shutter on the front 50% and it didn't help. What can I do to make the bubbles stop? I have sponges in the tank so the bubbles are really bad for me to have in there!

2.) Poor skimmate - I get a decent looking foam head, but never makes it to the top. I have tried opening the blue screw all the way (even took it out) and it doesn't seem to change. One week of skimming resulted in 1/4" of super dark skim (almost coffee color) not the tea color I normally skim at. Any ideas?

9010 or 9011? The 9010 has not been made since early 2010 and was replaced by the 9011.

The microbubbles will persist for the first 2-4 weeks. The best solution is to completely close the shutter this will greatly diminish the bubbles, a thin layer of filter wadding or a floss pad over the inside of the bottom plate will also solve this, but it should be removed after the skimmer has fully broken in.

Can you PM me an email address so I can email you pics of some things to check out?
