I purchased the 9010 skimmer 10 days ago. After about a 3 day break-in period, it started producing skim, anywhere from 100ml a day dry to over 200ml a day wet. 3 days ago I change my carbon, added a new foam block to my sump (soaked in hot water for over an hour to remove any oils and rinsed) and done 15 gallon water change on my tank with around 140 gallons total volume, and my skimmer has not produced any foam since then. Is this a normal? It will skim and collect gunk, but at the bottom of the cup, it won't even begin to rise up. I've taken the skimmer apart and made sure everything is in order, cleaned the cup, and still nothing.
Is the new carbon absorbing more of the protein before the skimmer can get it, even though it's placed after the skimmer in the sump? Maybe the foam is releasing some leftover oil's?
It's all new to me with this skimmer, so I'm not sure how things work with it during water changes, etc.
