9010 vs 9015 skimmer

Hi Roger,
Could you tell me what the difference is between these 2 skimmers? It looks as if the only difference is the size of the collection cup? Also, what pumps are used on these skimmers? Is it the same pump that will be used on the upcoming Tunze skimmers? I forget the name of the new skimmers coming out. Thanks.

The Master DOC skimmers use a needle wheel pump, the Comline DOC skimmers use a venturi. The only difference is the cups. In fact you can buy a 9010 and upgrade the cup and the total price is the same.

Do you think the venturi is as efficient as the needlewheel? In other words, if a venturi driven skimmer has an air output of around 600 lph and a needlewheel has the same output of 600 lph, would they skm the same? Common sense tells me yes!

The main difference is bubble size and our venturi produces a very small even bubble size.

Would you say the venturi produces smaller bubbles than the needlewheel? Also, my water level is exactly 9.5" in height in my sump. It stays constant the whole time. Is that optimal? Thanks Roger.

The water level would be fine. I think needle wheels produce a slightly smaller bubble, I can mainly say the 9010 works very well.
