9011 or 9016 skimmer question

I'm sure this question won't go over too well in this forum, but how come when I do a search for these skimmers, I never see a thread where someone loves the skimmers? It is always " I have a problem with this, or a problem with that".

I have limited sump space and these skimmers would fit but I am too leery of buying one of these.

I appreciate any comments.

Thanks,
Ken

I have used 3115, 3130, 9010 and a tunze nano skimmer.

I have used 3115, 3130, 9010 and a tunze nano skimmer.

They have performed well in my tank in various sizes.
9011 skimmer is a newer version of 9010 and 9016 has the same spec with a bigger skimmer cup.
I believe 9011 should perform better than 9010 since 9011 has upgraded its pump.
There are many people who love Tunze skimmers as far as I know.

I hope this helps.

It is a tech support forum so people come here to solve technical problems, rarely do people take the time to just post how much they like something.

If you look at reviews on dealers sites however you get a more balanced picture-

Proportional to the number sold, issues are rare, some are user error or just someone new to the hobby and unfamiliar with skimmers. Some are manufacturing issues, these skimmers are hand assembled and humans make mistakes. Some are parts broken in shipping, they are shipped three times on average before you get one, from Penzberg Germany to Austin TX, Austin TX to a dealer and from the dealer to you.

i owned a tunze 9010 for a long time and before i bought it, i did a lot of research. i found a few people having trouble with it, and a few people raving about how good it was. its an expensive skimmer: if its not working well, the first thing someone is gonna do is post angrily on the internet. if its working well, thats exactly what the owner expects. there is no need to post on the internet.

personally, mine used to pull thick black sludge out of an underfed 40 gallon tank (it was the only skimmer i had at the time, and it fit in the sump, so why not lol).

i would buy it if i were you. you wont find a better skimmer that fits in the same place as it will.
