can the back glass of a 90g AGA tank be drilled(is it tempered)

if it can how far away from the edges should i stay

on there web site it states in the FAQ that it may or may not be made from tempered glass. most bottom glass is tempered but im concerned with the back glass.

if anyone has a 90g AGA tank that they drilled, please reply

I JUST bought a NEW all glass aquarium for my sump and ,there is a big sticker on the side that says: " this tank made from tempered glass for strength and reliability DO NOT DRILL"

The risk is yours to take!

The reason is the YELLOW sticker means it is drilled bottom only, and the other color (can't remember which) means it is fully tempered. Here is a trick to find out for sure. Take a brand new cheap glass cutting wheel and LIGHTLY drag it across a 1" section of the glass. If it scratches it the glass is not tempered. If it skips along the glass is tempered. I usually test the scratch right along the silicone seam so it does not weaken the glass.

FWIW this AGA had a yellow sticker warning......

The sticker is white.
I heard you can also tell by taking a polorized camera lense and holding it up to the glass- if ya see a morie pattern- it's tempered!

ummm.....maybe mine was white too.....I am now doubting my original post, but whatever I used the glass cutter to check anyway.
