90g Stocking Ideas

Situation:
My 90g has water and sand - no rock or lights yet.
It shares a sump with my 55g.
I will be adding dry rock and lightning over the next month or so.
After that I will start adding in the fish.

I do not want to duplicate most fish from my other tank, so none of the following:
Chromis
Royal Gramma
Firefish

Planned Stocking:
2 x Black & White Ocellaris Clownfish
1 x Brown Tang
1 x Coral Beauty
1 x Goby & Shrimp pair

Anyone have any suggestions? :)

wetmorella wrasses (turned to be my favourite fish) had the luck to get a pair of nigropinnata, one fish always swims around the front of my tank,
lovely little fish, the other always nudges him to come back to the back of the tank:lolspin:

orchid dottyback - love the color

I've never had a wrasse, but I think I'm convinced.

I really like the idea of a trio in both the 55g and the 90g.

Updated 55g stock list:
2 x Ocellaris, Chromis*
1 x Royal Gramma*
1 x Firefish*
1 x LMB*
3 x White Banded Possum Wrasse (M/F/F)
2 x Kaudern's Cardinalfish

Updated 90g stock list:
2 x Black & White Ocellaris Clownfish
1 x Brown Tang*
1 x Coral Beauty*
1 x LMB
1 x Midas blenny
1 x Orchid Dottyback, Captive-Bred - They do look cool :)
3 x Longfin Fairy Wrasse (M/F/F)
1 x Jawfish, Yellowhead (Pearly jawfish)
1 x Pinkbar Goby
1 x Orange Stripe Prawn Goby
1 x Court Jester Goby
1 x Bartlett's Anthias

* = already owned

Are the three Goby's safe together? I'd also be adding a couple pistol shrimp for the two that pair with shrimp (Tiger and Red Banded)

While that is a long list, most are small fish.

Note: I plan on having LPS, SPS, Zoas, a clam, and an anemone. (At least thats my goal)

I'm still in the very loose planning stage, so suggestions are very welcome!

I am setting up a 90 right now too, and this is my proposed stocking list
Pair of perculas
Starry blenny
Chromis
Those are definite because they are tough little dudes, survived in a 20 gallon qt together for months after my tank exploded in June

Then will add
Blue spot jawfish
Midas blenny
Royal gramma
Flame angel or tomini tang
Firefish
Anthias/wrasse/ mandarin( not all, will pick one)
And possibly a Valentini puffer

My understanding is that puffers will eat my reef cleaner snails. That's why I don't have a puffer in my list.

Yes that is true, you will have to replace cuc over time. I love puffers. They are awesome. Which is why I will probably have one. I would have a hard time having a tank that didn't have a puffer. They aren't for everyone else though

If you don't get shrimp, you could get a hawkfish of some kind. I just got a flame hawk and I love her, they have the best personalities and their eyes follow you all over the room. I think you might be able to get away with a bluethroat trigger in a 90g, they're some of my favorite fish but I don't have any saltwater setups big enough for one.

Brown tang? All the colors at your disposal and you're going with brown?! Just kidding - to each his own.

It's a reef.

I purchased what my LFS told me was a Kole Tang (juvenile). A little research proved them wrong. It's a happy mistake though, I love the look. :)

I may take this tank in a totally different direction. I really like the idea of schooling fish, and while I understand that nothing will truly school in a home aquarium, the wrasse trios come close.

I'm planning on an open aquascape - I will still have hiding places and caves, but there will also be a lot of open water for active fish to swim in.

2 x Black & White Ocellaris Clownfish (3")
3 x Whip Fin Fairy "Fairy" Wrasse M/F (3.5")
3 x Linespot "Flasher" Wrasse M/F/F (3")
3 x White Banded "Possum" Wrasse M/F (2.5")
1 x Brown Tang (6")
1 x Coral Beauty (4")
1 x LMB (5" rock huger)

How is this bioload?

14 total fish, most max out at 3"

If possible add the jaw fish first or near the beginning so he can get his home dug. Mine is right out in the open but close to his home but took some time to get adjusted. He was either the first or 2nd fish I added.

They are very skittish in the beginning before they get used to their enviroment. Awesome fish.

Your flasher/fairies would be best kept as singles of different species. Pairs and harems are very likely to turn into multiple males fighting it out. You could have a single of several species, like I have in my 120. I love them!
