9420 impleller

Hi Roger,

I thought I would post here rather than on the forums in Australia (understanding we have a local importer/distribution model) as the 9420 skimmers and pumps are less common here in Australia as other brands.

Anyway, recently my skimmer started becoming very noisy. I have pulled it apart and cleaned it and noticed the white shaft (which is fixed to the magnet/top) has a small chip where it seats in the bottom bearing.

I am guessing this is causing a vibration, which it turn is the noise I can hear.

is there only 1 impellor model (I'm assuming the shaft can't be replaced) or is it different for the pump (50Hz vs. 60Hz if such different pumps exist).

Another question is can the white shaft be repaired in any way?

Thanks in advance

Their is only one model number of impeller but they are different for 50 and 60Hz 50Hz results in 3000 rpm and 60Hz 3600 rpm so the the 60Hz is smaller so the flow is the same at higher speed. The shaft is not removable, I have never tried fixing it but I would assume a temporary fix could be made with epoxy and extreme care, basically cleaning it very well, filling the chip and carefully sanding everything smooth. My concern would be that eventually this will fail and could the piece of epoxy cause worse damage, that is an unknown.
