So, I have this Tank sitting around- never wanted to get rid of it , so through many moves it gos from storage to storage. Well the time is approaching. When I got it I redid the the inside clauking of glue, but that way 13 years ago easy.

Suggestions on what to do.

Should I just refill the darn thing, and no leaks after a week and boom I'm good to go? or redo the glue again? + ya think there should be any concern In it breaking being that it is an aged tank.

I appreciate the imput, from anyone with really old tanks.

The tank should be fine, visually inspect the caulking job on the seams. If you feel that it needs to be re-sealed, cut the old sealant with a razor blade, then seal the seams again with 100% silicone. There is no difference between the silicone sold exclusively for "aquariums" and 100% silicone.
As for the age of the tank, my 125 gallon is going to be fifteen years old in September of this year. I have had everything in it from oscars to planted and it's now a full blown reef tank with five hundred pounds of LR and LS not to mention the water.
The thing that you want to pay attention to detail to is, the plastics on the tank. If they appear to cracked and or oxidized real bad, it would benifit you to look into repairing it and not filling it up, especially if the center brace(s) are broken- this will cause a bow in the tank and seriously compromise it's integrity and ultimately rupture. This is something that will tear your heart right out of your chest and put a hole in your bank account! TinMan

Yeah, youre right The truth is the tank orginally was a 130 gallon high and long, the guy I bought it from took the good pieces and fabricated it in the tank I have with aluninum braces, plus because it had glass to support a tank twice its size the glass is more than strong enough, heck its more than a quater inch thick.

Thanks for the imput.

My tank is like 15 years old. It was sitting for about 10 years before I set it up. Everything works the only problem is that the silcone seems to be coming loose so you should re seal it
