A couple pictures from Florida

I'm still down in Florida, but my pregger wife is taking a nap after walking around all day so I thought I'd look at how some of my pictures turned out. I was pretty happy! I have tons and tons more, but I'm not going through all of them. A lot of these pictures were taken from a safari bus, the image stabilization really came in handy for that part of it.

Keep them comming!!!! I love the first one!!!!
Thanks :) He was in a good spot, peeking over the edge looking at me made him look very inquisitive.

I love the expression on the face of #3. Not sure of the bird, though, what is that?
Great pictures!
Yeah, it looks like it's smiling doesnt it? It's just some kind of duck, nothing fancy.

Crocodiles!? This is Florida you need some wild Gator shots man! What zoo was this? Apparently I have never been there.
This was Animal Kingdom, pretty neat to see. I havent seen any wild gators yet, where around Vero Beach would I be able to do that?

Great images!
I like this one... So contemplative... :)
They always have one on guard, there were little meerkats playing around below and doing the basic stuff, but there would be one adult up top of the mound keeping watch. It was cool to see. Here he/she is looking the other way...

Since this is a fish forum, I figure I should put a picture of a fish I saw on here too! There are lots of these down in the lakes, they have little nests dug into the sand. Some are pretty big, over a foot long.

Uhh....where are the pictures from the beach? You know, the ones with the "seagulls" ?(LOL) Well it seems like that 100-400 is serving you well. Looks good.

Yeah, we havent been to the beach yet, it's an hour from Orlando at least and we had other stuff to do, but hopefully I'll see some seagulls today or tomorrow :)

Dude, chance for Aurora tonight, and you're pretty much in about the worst place on the continent to see them :). If they actually do show tonight I'll be sure to post a shot or two for you ;). Though those Fla seagulls are nice too...

Some pictures from today at the beach. Lots of actual seagulls, absolutely zero of the kind of seagull IPT wanted to see... it was cloudy today and actually pretty cold. I'm getting acclimated already, it was 65 out and I put my shirt back on, I was too cold in shorts. I stuck my toes in the water and about froze so I didnt go any deeper than that.

I liked this little stud with the beach hair :) He wasnt letting any of the other birds push him around.

What no (sexy) "seagulls"?? Bummer....well, those birds at the beach look nice anyway. That one with the tufted up dew looks cool. I must say that lens is turning some quality shots for you. Are you finding that you are zoomed out all the way a lot?

Man, did you say "cold" and "65" (degrees) in the same sentence? Man you ain't even been gone a week and you're getting soft!!

Well, this is what you missed last night. It isn't much, but considering how long it's been since I've seen them it was a nice treat.

Im liking the lens a lot. I'm taking most of my pictures in the 200-300 range, but at animal kingdom I took a lot at 400, I'm glad I had more reach than the 300mm prime.

I know, I'm turning into a wimp fast. I feel cold at 65.

That aurora shot is nice, wish I had seen it!

I got a couple pictures of sandhill cranes. It's kind of neat, I could see them in Alaska but I didnt have my good zoom lens then.

They have two sets of eyelids, one blinks horizontally and is somewhat seethrough, then one main set that blinks vertically. On this picture you can see the horitzontal one starting across.

Here you can see it with the eyelid totally covering the eye... it just makes it look really dull.

Check out these wrinkly legs... and the weird way they sit down.

I'm not sure what this little bird is, but he is cool.

I know, I'm kind of bummed, I planned on playing in the waves.

Will the water be warmer down in the keys? It's pretty chilly in the Vero Beach area...

Oh yeah man, WAY warmer. Of course in 2 months it will be here as well. The keys are blasted 24/7 by the gulf stream, so all of their water is from the western tip of Cuba.

Good to know, warm water would be nice. I was surprised how cold it was at the beach we went to here right outside Vero.

I thought it was neat seeing sandhill cranes down here, although I wonder if these ones came from Canada and not Alaska, I'm guessing so.

Do you see cranes here all year round or just in the winter?
