A couple ?'s !!!

Hey everyone,
I am in the process of setting up our ( my dad and I ) tank ! It is a 20 long, with a 10 gallon refugium ! We will be dosing kalkwasser as top off ! The lighting will be either 3 or 4 75 watt VHO's ! After alot of research, I have decided to keep a Maxima down the road ! While reading, I always noticed everyone says to wait around 6 months before introducing a clam ! I was wondering why this would be ?? Is it to stabilize the water para. ? What do yall think of a Maxima ( on the bottom about 12 inches below the bulbs ) with around 225-300 watts of VHO lighting ? I also herd that you should feed Phyto ( sp?) ? How much do you feed ( filter feed correct ? ) ? How often do you feed ?

Thanks alot,
Nick:rollface:

i have a 50 gallon with halides and i feed a capful of live phyto to my clam and feather dusters and other phyto eaters and they love it. theres most lkely no way youll be able to keep a maxima that low with those lights save yourself the time and money and get halides theyll be cheaper in the long run anyway. I had to get em later and was ****ed. if you want clams you want halides. you need an established tank becasue the water parameters are stable (not fluctating) and there is a healthy supply of other essential critters in the LR to filter the water. HALIDES ALL THE WAY
