A few pics of my SPS Reef

Your tank is beautiful. I like that you've given your corals room to grow into impressive sized colonies. I'm wondering how you manage flow with such a dense rock structure.

The 4 MP40s are synched in reef crest mode and have limited dead spots in the tank, the 2 k4s help with flow towards the middle of the tank. all of the flow is designed to go over the rock structure.

how much 2 part are you dosing on your tank daily? i cant get mine quite right.
thanks

Well it has changed as the colonies have grown, what I do every 6 months or so is test mag, alk, and cal on one day, go 3-4 days without dosing and then test to see what my tank consumes. I use this calculator to plug in my water volume and pick my product (Randy's 2 part)
http://reef.diesyst.com/chemcalc/chemcalc.html

This will tell me what I should dose over that span of time, and I divide it to a daily dose.

Here is some easy math:

Day one Cal 450

Day four Cal 400

My tank will use 50ppm of calcium in four days or 12.5ppm per day

Using the Calculator I would need 1,535 ML of calcium to get from 400-450 based on my total water volume of 300 gal

I then divide the calcium need by 4 to get the daily dose required to keep calcium at 450. In this case 383 ML daily

I dose the following daily but is very specific to my tank

ALK: 99 ML daily
Cal: 20 ML daily
Mag:I test every two weeks and balance the tank to 1300 with the required amount if any.

Hope this helps

Tank looks great.

I'm a little confused on your dosing comment though. You said your daily calcium needs are 383ml but then say you dose 20ML daily.

The 20 ML is my actual. The 383 ml is for the example i created to show the math. Sorry for the confusion. :spin2:

Wow u only use 20ml a day. I guess the solution u have is pretty strong then. Mine is consuming 35ml a day and mine aren't nowhere near the size of your
Sps.

Interesting you dose so much more alk than cal. My tank seems to do the reverse. I am at 28ml Alk and about 40ml Cal. I guess that whole even dosing isn't always the case.
