Thats wat i'm talking about great pics- i believe i have the camera I only need the zoom lens. Great job Mr. Nanokat

Why, thank you very much! It helps to have an awesome camera for doing macro shots and some gorgeous ricordeas to shoot. That one is amazing Rogger! I also found that "macro adapter" on the web...as I said I think you can use it in conjuction with your add on lens you got if the size of the threads fit.

Thanks for posting these pics...I'll have to save them.

macro lense suggestion

macro lense suggestion

Nanocat,

those shots look fantastic!

Can you suggest a macro lense or at least a spec/brand name for use with the cannon digital rebel xt?

NanoKat, is that just an extension tube? What lens did you use with it?

Davester, I highly recommend the Canon EF 100 2.8 Macro. I use it for the majority of my in-tank shots.

Yes, they were taken with Rogger's Nikon Coolpix 995 which is an older camera. These cameras are well known for their macro ability. They were shot without any additional lenses on the camera too!

As far as lenses for the Rebel, I know that Canon makes some excellent macro versions. There are also add-on macro adapters that you can put on other lenses. Since I'm not too familiar with these, I can't make any specific recommendations. Your best bet might be to take your camera to a store that sells a variety of lenses for your camera and try them out. Try focusing on something that you think is the size and distance you would be shooting at in your tank and go from there.

And the ricordeas are beautiful...the photos are not retouched...that's exactly the coloration they have!

awesome pic..glad you could share...

i wish i could take awsome pics like that....but i messed up and bought the olympus 720 so i cant add on any lenses....:(

I didn't relize that you need lenses to get good flicks when i bought it..(except for a case like this)

Actually, Zigz...you should have a macro setting on your camera. In addition, there are add-on lenses available for many point-and-shoot cameras. Here's a link to a lens for the C-720, if that's what you have, on ebay:

If you have the new Stylus 720, you may be out of luck for the add on lenses, but again, most cameras do also have decent macro abilities on their own.

The two digital cameras I shoot primarily with are a Nikon with no extra lenses at all and a Fuji with a macro adapter and a 2x magnification lens.
