I recently set up a 125g tank. It's 72x18x22. It has a single overflow in one corner. I originally purchased a single 6000 with controller, and subsequently added 2x Maxijet 1200s, largely to break surface tension. There's also a Mag12 running the return, although I think this is producing a little less flow than it should due to the size of the return pipe. I also purchase the deco rock.
1) I don't understand the rock; if I was making the purchase all over again I would not have bought it. There doesn't really seem to be any possible way to position it in the tank so that the flow is directed somewhere reasonable AND even remotely disguise the fact that it contains a pump. If I set it on the bottom, it starts throwing rocks and sand and soon clogs. Of course because the pump is so powerful I have to aim it very carefully (ie not at other rocks/corals), and it ends up that from most viewing angles the pump itself is quite obvious. This of course circumvents the point. For some reason I was originally thinking that I could pile other rocks on top of it, but this doesn't exactly lend itself to maintenance.
2) I think I undersized my flow. I'm still new enough that I'm not going hardcore SPS, but I am going to want to keep a few. I'll also have some LPS and clams. I'd love some suggestions on what I should do from here. Upgrade to a 6100? Add another 6000? Add a 6080 and upgrade to a 6100? I don't know.
