A Few Questions

Hello,

Have been into reeftanks for a while and am now really interested in starting a Mantis tank. Would love a peacock but do not feel like puting it in a smaller tank. Anyway tank is going to be a 16 gallon 3/4" acrylic tank I have.

Question 1 is what type of lighting can be used with the mantis? Can I use MH like a 70W?

Question 2 is does it need a top? Tank is rimless and want to keep it that way if possible. I guess if I have to get another tank with a top.

Last question how much flow do these guys and gals like?

Recommends 100l (26gal) tank. Most say at least a 20gal

I've never heard about any lighting, or no lighting being bad for the mantis itself. (Although interested to find out for sure)

High intensity lighting i believe is thought to contribute to shell disease which a peacock is somewhat known to be susceptible too, this is only from what i have read not first hand experience, i have 2 Peacocks and both tank i just use PC lights. With that being said, a 70w halide is not going to but off a lot of par on a 26 gal tank so you may be fine.
