i just purchased a yellow clown goby(Gobiodon okinawae)
i know they are perching fish
and like to rest on rocks and corals
but it sorta of looks like mine has a "foot" as a pelvic fin below the perctoial fins
it is one fin but is in a cylinder shape
it is yellow just like the rest of the body and fins

does anyone else have a Gobiodon okinawae?
does yours have a "foot"?

Yes, and yes ;)
Their fins have developed into sort of a suction cup for perching. Yours is perfectly normal. Enjoy him, they're wonderful little fish :)

awesome
that is very cool

he has a lot of personality
:D

They really do have loads of personality, mine's a little nut. He'll challenge much bigger fish for food and likes to dive headfirst into his fox coral from a foot away, then turn around and peek out to see if anyone's coming too close -- if they are, he'll dart out and defend it like a little bulldog. I used to have a maroon clown that the goby absolutely tormented. She would try to investigate a coral, he'd pop out from under it and bite her. She would retreat, then try again with another coral... after a while I'm sure she felt like every LPS in the tank had teeth! A little while later she started killing fish, so I traded her in, but the 1" ycg was never in danger -- I think the maroon was terrified of him! :D

yeh i just got one that is TINY... maybe a centermeter and a half, makes me laugh so much when he skoots of his rock to grab the food then charges back at full speed... its like hes gonna get sucked away if he stays out there!!!

lol just thought to myself in the ocean maybe he would and thats why he dus it!!! or maybe hes watched finding nemo too and knows what happens to lil fish that swim too far from the reef!
