A. Fowleri

Great Fowler's!!
How's the temperament after the past year?
Do you find him / her to be a dominate fish in your aquarium?
What about feeding? Still a similar diet as compared to what you reported earlier??
Thanks!

He is an excellent community fish. There is a much smaller zebra tang in there and there is no aggression between them. The largest fish in the tank is a foxface, whcih I would say is the dominant fish in the tank. He does not threaten the other fish, all of which are much smaller.
The bulk of his diet is pellets. I use a mix of formula 2 (80%), spectrum (10%) and hikari (10%) pellets. Very occasionally some chopped shrimp or mysis. He's grown may be an 1.5" max, but I'll have to try to measure more accurately. I feed somewhat sparingly so that may explain his slower growth compared to other posts.

Year 3 update: Still doing very well, but surprisingly not much growth. Tankmates now include an Emperor angel who rules the tank but all bark and no bite.

killer, great to hear.
Toss up some pics if you can, I would love to see her.
Any interesting changes or any unexpected observations?
Fav food?

Really to cool to hear she is thriving, excellent job.

Best,

TK

Yes I have but short term. They got along just fine. The fowleri was well established before the duss came in. They were both around 7”

Today: Measures almost exactly 6" now.

Other observations:
-has adapted very well to tank life. No longer skittish, constantly out and about like a typical tang
-this is a relatively passive species. In three years I have never seen it instigate aggression (it is the largest of three tangs in the tank but of note the other tangs are not acanthurus spp)
-growth is slow (at least for this one), has added about 1.5" in three years
