A fresh start

Hello All,
This is Rafaqat from Pakistan. i am in2 fresh water fish since about 13 years...am planing to buy a new 100 G marine fish tank....i have lots of questions in my mind.
1- can i use sand from the local sea shore?
2- can i keep live palnts from our sea shore?
3- i will be having 1500 liter per hour external and over head filter.
with protin skimer, heater and lots of rocks.
I will be going to pick some rocks and sand for the tank. i will be needing lot of your help during my inetial setup... hope to get good responce.

1. Yes you can, just collect it from a clean area, preferably from below the tide line.

2.Depending upon the temperature of your local sea, if it's close to the temperature of your tank you can.

3.Are you planning a Fish only tank or a reef tank?
 
First thing first..only empty tank for few months with lots of plants and rocks...afterwards fill fill it with blue demsil and clown fish....
please guide me what is Live rock and Live sand?
 
Live rock is porous rock with many organisms growing on it. Use a search engine and do a search for it you'll get a lot of results.

Live sand is sand that has taken from the sea with life still in it.
