A little tip for the low budget reefer...

I am a low-budget guy myself, and today, at the dillons at St. louis & National, there is a cart sitting back by the milk & dairy box, with clearance items. I found in it Pickling lime. 1lb jars, Mrs.Wages for $1.50. I bought four, but there were a few more left.. Cheap Kalkwasser!

I have found it at Wal-Mart in the lawn and garden center. I think it goes for around $3 per container. I usually buy a case of it from them at this time every year. May be closer to the fall though. Just FYI. Another good tip is nori from the asian food market for feeding tangs. I feed one sheet per day for my 4 tangs. Sorry tang police.

You cant beat using the sheets of Nori from the asian market. Very inexpensive, and my tangs love them. Never tried the other for kalwasser.
