A new creature

Well, in addition to mantis #3, which I'm still not able to catch, we've found a new creature that we're not sure what it is. I placed a piece of shrimp under a rock ledge to try to coax little mantis #3 out into the open. The next thing we know, something with long dark brown legs (looked kind of like hermit crab legs, only big) reached down and grabbed the shrimp and pulled it up into the hole. It had to reach almost 1 1/2 inches out of the hole to grab the shrimp, and it was lightning fast. Anyone know if hermit crabs can take up residence in live rock instead of a shell?

Well, mystery solved. It was a very large, very predatory and very ugly crab that was living in that rock. It looked like a narrow gorilla crab all covered in algae with very large pointed pinchers. A little Diet Pepsi strategically squirted into its hole flushed it right out, along with a couple of smaller gorilla crabs.

Yep, still with Part 1 Teri. I'm ready for Part 2, but someone told me Richard has gone on vacation.

He said he would be back on the 24th. (I'm looking for your post about the nano tanks for a mantis)

That's the one!

That's the one!

YES! I see you have set yours up. Sorry to hear about Marvin's demise. :sad2:

WE WANT PICS!

Did you leave the ceramic rings and bioballs in place as the bio filter? Or did you remove them so you could use the live sand/live rock from Richard as the biofilter?
