A new Tank ???

I should add, the tank I want, won't be quite as big, most likely somewhere around 25x25x22, but everything else pretty much the same.

so your setup will be about 60 gals. that would be a nice SH tank.

as for how it's set up, will it be viewable from all 4 sides, or will it go against a wall?
will you be drilling/having it drilled?

It will be viewable from only the front. The tank will be in the corner of the room with a wall on the left and my DT on the right. I really want an in tank over flow box in the center of the back wall in the tank, pretty much the same tank as in the link above, and a CL system. But, this will all depend on the advice I get here. I was trying and am trying to find a used tank but that isn't going to well so I thought I would go ahead and make plans to have a tank made. Any toughts on how I should have this tank made will be most helpful. I don't want to post this tank build and here: you should have had the tank made this way, lol.

LOL...it's always after the fact, isn't it?

i really like external O/F boxes, but for SH, i'd recommend having a toothed O/F rather than a slotted one, which will be hard to do in a glass tank. if it were my project, i'd set it up similar to my 50 gal pent SH setup, but not quite the same.

i recommend a central trapezoidal O/F.

for your main returns, you can run two "over the tank" returns, or drill them and use 3/4" B/H's with wide flares.

run 2 or 3 CL returns about 6" from the tank floor on each end. of you run the 3rd CL return, put it in the bottom of the tank in front of the O/F box. i run strainers rather than flares on the outer CL returns to diffuse the flow, and a Y sticking up thru the bottom for the center return. the two outer CL returns are on a SCWD. i have the CL intake about halfway up one side of the tank. i used a threaded spa screen on this B/H.

if you like, you can use a SCWD on the main returns or not.

anyhoo, that's how i'd do it. oh, and i'd run with a black back as well, either ordered or DIY.

HTH

Well, I sent off for a price quote from Miracles Aquariums. I asked for a price on a 24x24x22 or a 25x25x22 tank. I asked for an internal overflow box, I also changed my mind on the CL and am going to use some type of power head in the tank, unless you think a CL is a must have. We will see what kind of price they come back with.

it's really kinda up to how you want to run. personally, i've always hated seeing PH's in my systems, so i try to design them out up front one way or another.

if you do go with PH's, make sure whatever it is has a guard over the intake, or if you use Korallias, stick w/the nano model, as the SH's tail won't get into the propeller (there have been partial amputations).

Thanks for the help. I will ask for more help when I get the tank, lol. I may still get the CL, I just want to see what kind of price he come back with on the tank without the CL.

Update: I Have not heard back from either of the tank companies yet that I sent inquirers out to for a tank. I have found a local acrylic shop though :), I am in the process of finding out if he will do some work for me. I am in need of a new, bigger sump for my DT also, if I can get them to make the sump I will see if they could make me a cube tank also. One more question: how do you make a spary bar for a seahorse tank??? The tank, when I get it, will be CL, even though I hate CL, I can't argue with all of the Pros advice I am getting here on the CL. No since asking for advice if you aren't going to take it.
