A new toy

I got a Jebao WP-25 wavemaker in the mail today.

This thing is pretty cool. Multiple settings, a ton of flow, and a nice smooth wave on the surface.

The fish seem to love it.

I should give these a try for my basement tanks. Where did you get yours from?

I should probably just get replacement drivers for my Tunzes. Maybe eventually. ;)

I have non publicly bashed and denounced the Jeabo powerheads since they came out, but I'm getting ready to set up a new tank; I'm a big fan of Vortech MP powerheads, it's just the $200+ price tag that has me reconsidering a Jeabo powerhead.

As I've never had a wavemaker before, I can't compare it to the Vortech or Tunzes. But it's quiet and works really well. We'll see how it stands up to the test of time. But for $60, it's hard to beat.

You're welcome to swing by and check it out sometime.

I have Tunze and Vortech. Both have excellent customer service and superior products. That being said the price point on the Jebao's can't be ignored. The replacement drivers for my Tunze 6055's are $40 each.

I'm not arguing that a likely patent infringement occurred......... But still. ;)

I'm sure patent infringement happened.

I've got one! I've had the WP40 since they came out. I ran it in my 120 for a few months.

I dunno...seems like a solid pump to me. It's quieter than my MP40. I don't exactly have a way to measure water flow but it seems to put out a ton of flow. Though, I will say...it's not putting out as much flow as some people have suggested. Some people talk about it causing a 3" wave across the top of their tank in a 180g. I call bull on that one. But my MP40 doesn't do that either. For the money, I will never buy another Vortech. I would buy another one of these in a hot second.

I've heard they can be loud if you having them facing straight out but that if you angle them a bit then they're super quiet.

I'm for it.
