Good luck trying to keep the color in that coral. Mine turned a nice brown under 10K 400 W MH's. The coral was about 6 inches from the top of the water and the lights are about 5 inches above the water.

Chris at RM gets really good color in his holding facility. IMO it's b/c he uses 400w and 1000w 20k's on all his tanks. They can supercharge those corals with color for a month or two and then sell them off. If they ship and loose some color and then you put them under 10k's in the top half of your tank, there definately not gonna look the same(unless you do some MAJOR acclimating ). All those corals are direct from Walt Smith and are farmed at about 60ft under water. This blocks out most of the yellow light and gives you a lighting spectrum in the range of 20k-40k. They have never even seen what 10k looks like b/c they are so used to the blue.

Speedstar- Those really look freakin sweet! Im definately gonna do an order the next time I see something really nice. Thanks for posting the pics!

I've always been under the impression Chris doesn't keep corals for a month or 2. I thought the turn around was pretty quick from when he gets it from Walt...I could be wrong. With that said, I've gotten some nice pieces from there. Of course the LPS have done great...I have lost a few sps pieces that bummed me out...likely due to alk issues once. The other time I have no clue. I definitely don't have 400/1000w 20ks.
