A Pyro's 374 gallon display tank upgrade

I am new around here, been lurking for years but recently signed up, sure do love this forum! I have a thread going on my local board, I think I'm going to move it over here and update here from now on.

Long story short is that two years ago I had a genius hair brained idea to put a 140g acrylic tank in the wall of my living room. I built it into one of my guest bedrooms closet not knowing what a nightmare scenario I had created for myself. The tank is absolutely stunning to look at from the living room but as you could probably guess, is no fun to maintain being in a cramped closet. Here are a couple of pics one shortly after I started it, and the other a month or so ago.

Needless to say I'm done and over the in-wall tank look without having a dedicated fish room behind it to support it. Between myself and a very destructive rabbitfish we've managed to scratch the heck out of the acrylic, therefore, Ive decided to upgrade to as large of a tank as I can fit in my living room. I have no wife or kids to tell me what to do, so Ive decided on and ordered a 96x30x30 Starphire front custom tank from Planet Aquarium. I placed the order two weeks ago and was told to expect a lead time of 4-5 weeks. I thought it'd be a good time to start a build thread seeing as how I didn't on my last build and could have really used some advice from some of you master reef keepers.

The new tank will simply be a larger version of what I have now, a mixed reef tank. I plan on running 8 48" custom spectrum LED fixtures from Build My Led, I spoke with Nick (Co-owner) in great detail about the build, he is going to take some frequency measurements on my current and preferred lighting fixtures (2x 400w Radiums) and emulate that spectrum as close as he can. Hopefully Ill have a test fixture in my hands next week to run over my current tank for a little while to make sure they'll live up to my expectations. I've done an enormous amount of research on lighting, I know many of you have your doubts on LED, I firmly believe Build My Led will be the wave of the future in lighting. I want to avoid running a chiller at all costs, the only way to achieve this is to not run MH.

This post is kind of long winded already, I will keep it short and post some pics along the way. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have.

A couple more pics, this one is of the layout where the tank is going to go, I taped it off and stared at it for days to make sure that I really want to cover up that window.

Second thing I have to do was replace all of my wood floors, they were a few years old and between the inwall tank and my dogs, were pretty much destroyed. I decided to go with a ceramic wood tile rather than wood knowing that spillage is a very common thing around here. This is a few hours after getting most of it down. I don't have a pic of them finished, they turned out nicer than expected.

These are the two water containers I ordered, a 160g Ro/Di and a 150g mixing tank.

Here is 100lbs of dry Pukani rock from BRS, as usual they came through with exactly what I asked for! Rock is now cooking nicely in a 150g rubbermaid.

And the curing

I threw some chaeto in there to help with the inevitable phosphates, between that and Seaklear, I am phosphate free!

Mixing and RO containers plumbed in and ready to go. (Note the transfer switch for my generator, all this for a fish tank....)

As everything else in the hobby, its taking a while, seem like I ordered the tank weeks ago!!

Spoke to Nick at buildmyled again today, he is working with Sanjay on matching Radiums as close as possible, hopefully I have a functioning test fixture by the end of next week.

The floors turned out nice, I think I'm going to seal them to darken up the grout, its a bit lighter than I had anticipated.

Exciting progress, got the stand and some goodies in. 300lb drum of Salinity salt, 200lbs of sand, Reeflo pump, and misc valves.

2-mp60's, another 40 watt UV, and whole bunch of Apex gear ordered today.

Made some progress last weekend, got the trough built into the bottom and the back of the stand skinned to allow for mounting of various items. The blue tape represents the end of the monster 5' sump I'm having built!

Got the tank in yesterday!!!!

I must say that this is one of the nicest tanks Ive seen, The guys at Planet Aquarium really are top notch!!

The blue tubing you see coming out of the wall is some pvc I installed to handle the automatic water changes and ATO container filling duties, I also pulled a few cat6 for network to the APex as well as any other future relays/contacts I want to add, also pulled a new 20amp electrical circuit.

Some other goodies that came in today.

I have another 40watt UV that Ill mate up to this one to make a to make of 80watts.
