I've been reading posts and seeing pictures of tanks with live plants. I asked my LFS about purchasing plants for the tank and I was told I don't want them in my tank as they take up all the calcium. I haven't seen this as a problem in my reading and am wondering if I am missing something or they are inacurate about their assessment. Seems from what I have read this is an excellent addition for water purity and I know my "children" would love the fresh eats rather than the dried ones they have been tearing up.
Thank you so much for your advice, Dennise

Most macros have very little need for Ca unless you get a variety that does ( Halimeda, Shaving Brush ). As far providing food for your fishies Ulva and Gracillaria probably fit the bill best and neither has a demand for Ca.
