A quick palytoxin question to all zoa experts out there

I was reading up on it and i saw nothing about the actual amount stored in one polyp at a time. Is palytoxin constantly used all throughout the corals life or is new palytoxin created over time? Is there any use to palytoxin besides a defense mechanism? Also do different polyps have more than others or none at all? Just curious, thanks.
