A sad sad day

Well last night I came home to the worst thing any aquarium keeper can encounter.... water running out my garage door. I entered the house and found that my new 72 bow had popped a seam and drained itself completely. My sump and frag tank luckily were intact and I was able to get them tied together and all still living livestock into that and a big rubbermaid tub. Huge thanks goes out to Jess as he came over at 11:00 at night and did not leave till 2:30 this morning. I've lost several fish and a great majority of my stony corals but most if not all of my softies appear to have survived. I will not let this break me and we will be getting a new tank!!!!! All the livestock and LR are in stable systems and now its just a wait game till we get a new system.

Ben, that's funy

Chris, dude, that does blow. I am always leary about the tanks I build, becuase I refuse to run a silicone bead on the inside seam. I only bead the joints.

I would never expect this to happen with a commercial tank. However, I'm sure you will be compensated.

Keep us posted, I am curious if they will reimburse anything other than the tank itself. You should ask for a tank upgrade.

Chances are that if it is a seam break, they will just repair it and send it back to you.

A friend of mine had his brand new 210 AGA spring a leak (it had only been set up for a month or so), and it ruined his floor, furniture, the stand, and he lost 90% of his livestock. AGA gave him a new tank for free (but it took them several weeks to deliver it, and AGA picked up the old, leaky tank), but would not reimburse him for his stand, livestock or personal belongings that were ruined.

Update

I've been working with Rob over at Southwest where I bought the tank and the vendor and it looks like I will be getting my new system sometime this week. I decided to upgrade at this point and am getting a Oceanic Tech 90 which by all appearences is one amazing system. Big thanks goes out to Rob as he has been a big help working with the vendor.

Now I'm kinda excited cause this will be my biggest system ever (130 gallons total) with all sorts of new potential.

Very cool. I saw our other thread and thought you were noit getting a replacement.

90 is a nice size. I also liek teh 24x24x48. Those tanks have a lot of room for aquascaping adventures.

Be sure to post some pics when it gets in.
Cheers

Yeah the 120's are beauty's but the walkway where we have the tank is too narrow or else I would have gotten one long ago. At this point I am just waiting on the stand and then I am back in business!

Arrrgghhh, Stand did not make shipment on wed so I have to wait another week till my stand comes in. It is nice that LeeMar is making me a true wood stand for a great price but I need my tank fix!!!!
