A Tbs Inspiration

Ok, so after having set up a TBS tank, my wife bought me a regular all glass 10 gallon for V-Day cause I kept wanting to put stuff I found off the jetties and gulf into it and she wouldnt have any of it.

So with this new play tank I found a bunch of rock off the Laguna Madre, power washed it, got it cycled and BAM.... I was in business.

I got a 20" 70w sunpod for it as well as a bio wheel filter and a 400 maxijet.

I did transfer some things from the TBS tank to it since Richard gave me so much stuff I could hardly fit it all in the tank.

Some of the things that are in it from the gulf and jetties.

2 Wharty nems

2 pipe fish

1 flounder

several shrimp...incliding sargassum shrimp and one weird but cool looking one which I have no idea what its name is.

3-4 blue eyed scallops.

purple and yellow sea whips.

1 bay anchovy

2 piggy perch.... I think....

4-5 gobies or blennys

and various vegetation plants.

various certh and other snails...

oysters and barnacles

Things I have added from out side sources....

1 purple sea fan.....

1 clam

1 frag watermelon zoo's

2 frags of montipora .... green and orange...

1 maroon clown

1 damsel... yellow and black stripped....

2 extra rocks with sponges and feather dusters

1 other feather duster

blue legged hermit crabs

and a patch of green star polyps....

Richards TBS tank inspired me to go off and do my own !!!!!

who knows what the next project will be...

This I have added to the TBS tank is a pretty cool flame scallop and my serpent star was not looking so hot for a bit.... he had this white spot on him and one of his tentacles appears to have been damaged..... I have since moved him to the 10 gallon so he can have a better place hide and heal hopefully

A new edition to my TBS inspiration tank is that I caught a couple of Dwarf Sea Horses in the Laguna and a couple pistol shrimp (Snappy) !!!!!!

I will try to get some pics later !!!!

What do you think Richard ?????

ON A SADDER NOTE I DID SOME RE-AQUASCAPING TO MY MAIN TBS TANK AND THE TANK CLEARED UP JUST FINE AND THEN THE NEXT MORNING WE WOKE UP TO FIND THE TANK CLOUDY AND 2 FISH DEAD, THE SHRIMP GONE...AND THE SLIPPER LOBSTER AS WELL....WE WERE SO MAD ABOUT "SLIPPY" AS WE LOVINGLY CALLED HIM IT ALMOST PUT US IN TEARS.....

Laguna?

Laguna?

where are you diving in Corpus Christi? how is the viz? what about surge? what is the h20 temp this time of year?

Oh Im not diving but I would love to learn how !!!....all this was caught walking in the shallows with a dip net, beach surf and off the jetty rocks.

As soon as the water warms up I plan on doing some snorkeling off the jetties.....

this moring it was choppy, windy, murky water ....and dam cold

one day when my friend finally gets around to fixing his boat, I would love to take a ride out to the rigs.....

Killer!

Killer!

I think it is a way-too-cool...local texas tank, very good job aquascaping and using your local wildlife to form a jetty tank....more pics!
