A very large aquarium in a very small condo!

thats a HUGE ribbon eel. lol....corals look nice and happy also...

Those eels want to eat 4 to 6 pieces of fish every day.
They are like most smart fish.
They know how to beg
they know who feeds them and as soon as you pick up the feeding tongs they are jockeying for position.

Lots of people have had trouble keeping ribbon eels for any length of time. I hope you have continued success with them, as they really are lovely fish.

I do not know why I've had no problem keeping Ribbon eels, I've had them for 9 months now.
It could be the large size of the tank, possibly the quality of the water, keeping a group or a combination of factors.
I have seen where people say to only feed your eels once a week.
My eels want to be feed every day, it is amazing how much each eel can consume in one feeding.
All I can say, my eels eat like crazy and have been easy keepers.

Very impressed with your success, what a great addition to a reef

do you keep small fish like fire fish, small wrasses, etc.? if so, how do they interact with the ribbon eels?

regarding feeding, do you target feed them daily? what is your technique?

I have read some people place a long PVC pipe in the sand bed for them, did you do the same?

Did you place them directly into your DT without QT?

Do not have QT If size is important in getting your eels to start to eat this could be a problem

No PVC they used natural caves under the live rock.
I think PVC is not a good idea, the eels eat a lot so they must s**t a lot. The natural cave allows the cleaning crew, your tank's bacteria & amphipods to deal with the waste.

Feeding I use a thin aquarium tongs. The eels recognize the tongs more so than fish, clam, or shrimp on the end. The eels know there is something good on or near the end of the tong. They will attack the tip of the tong even if there is no food.

Have a few small fish three fire fish, they seem skittish enough to stay alive.
It's hit or miss on fish inch & half too two inches. Just about any fish less then inch & half is dinner.
